From our roots in 1923 to today's PreK–8 community on the St. Ambrose campus, Catholic Central School has grown by staying true to one mission: forming the whole child in mind, body, and spirit.
Catholic Central was established in September 1923 by Bishop Edmund F. Gibbons, beginning a century-long legacy of Catholic education in the Capital Region. Over the decades the school moved, grew, and adapted — and today it carries that legacy forward on a 19-acre campus in Latham, home to St. Ambrose Parish since 1924.
In recent years, Catholic Central and Saint Ambrose School came together to bring PreK–8 education onto a single campus — a new chapter the community has embraced under the banner "One Campus, One Mission." We're proud to be celebrating our centennial and looking ahead to the next hundred years of forming Crusaders.
Our mission is to develop the whole child with the life-preparatory skills needed to define and achieve their chosen path — through academic rigor, personal wellness, community engagement, and values formation. We welcome families of every faith background who share our commitment to raising kind, resilient, values-driven kids.
Courage, resilience, empathy, and respect — the "Attributes of a Crusader" — are taught and practiced every day, alongside prayer, reflection, and service.
We challenge students academically while nurturing character, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Small classes and a close-knit, multi-generational community mean every Crusader is known by name.

Catholic Central School operates within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, connecting our students and families to a wider community of Catholic education, faith formation, and service across the Capital Region.
